Lotte Betts-Dean returns to Australia to join Ensemble Q in a program highlighting extraordinary and engaging masterpieces of the 20th century chamber music repertoire. Ligeti's cheeky, charming and brilliantly virtuosic Six Bagatelles get us off to an exhilarating start before we visit the great Polish master Lutoslawski. Ravel's exquisite Introduction and Allegro for Harp and ensemble, Britten's utterly compelling Phantasy Quartet for oboe and strings and Webern's beautiful and rare tonal exploration for string quartet, the Langsamer Satz. Binding this entire journey together are the rarely heard and sensational Folk Songs by Luciano Berio, performed by Lotte.
